Irish Open Golf 2011 - Paul McGinley
One of the best known golfers on the European Tour, Irishman, Paul McGinley would like nothing more than to win the Irish Open Golf Championship. He has been close before, but certainly has the ability to win and this could well be his time. He has faded away somewhat in recent times and appears to have seen his best days but nevertheless he is still capable of stringing together one or two good rounds.
Paul has been a professional for many years and has won nine professional tournaments in that time. He has been in the European Ryder Cup team on three winning occasions and still harbours ambitions to be back in Ryder Cup contention. He has often played his best golf in the team format and will be remembered for holing the winning putt at the Belfry back in 2002.
He will be hugely popular with the galleries at the Killarney Golf Club and he will need to feed off of that when he tees off as he looks to capture his best form of the year. We have not seen too much from McGinley in 2010 and this would be a perfect time for him to put that right at a huge event such as the Irish Open.
