Paul McGinley

One of the best known golfers on the European Tour, Irishman, Paul McGinley would like nothing more than to win the Irish Open Golf Championship. He has been close before, but certainly has the ability to win and this could well be his time.

Paul has been a professional for 18 years and has won nine professional tournaments in that time. He has been in the European Ryder Cup team on three winning occasions and still harbours ambitions to be back in Ryder Cup contention.

2009 Form

Paul is currently ranked 165th in the world and started this year in very poor form, from his first five tournaments of the year he missed the cut on four occasions. But since then he returned to some semblance of form in the China Open when tied eight and has at least made the cut on the other three tournaments he has played. He was in contention at the Spanish Open last week up until the third round but fell away in the end finishing in a tie for 31st.

Odds

Paul McGinley is one of the golfers that should never be ruled out particularly on links course's such as Baltray. He has odds of around 50/1 in the Irish Open betting and may well be worthy of each way consideration. Like any player in the tournament Paul can be backed using an Irish Open Free bet from Paddy Power.
