European Tour Golf
The European Tour was first set up in 1972 and from humble beginnings it has developed into a tour that now spans 52 events throughout the World including Asia, Dubai, Australasia and of course Europe. With total prize money in the region of £100 Million pounds sterling it forms the basis for the best golf played anywhere in the World. It also produces many top golfers who represent Europe in the Ryder Cup every 2 years.
The major European events include the British Open and the European Open, which are at the centre of the Golfing schedule. In recent times the World Golf Championships have also become part of the European circuit. The Ryder Cup Golf Betting is always an integral part of the European Tour set up every second year.
The European Tour has an order of merit which is won each year by the leading money winner on the tour. There have been many great golfers who have won this including Colin Montgomerie who won this between the years of 1993 and 1999. It goes without saying that it is a great honour amongst the players to win this title. For the first time this year the format for Order of Merit has changed and a new agenda themed under the Race To Dubai has been created. The Irish Open will form part of this race. Effectively this means that top 50 players on the European tour will compete against each other for a World Championship that will take place in Dubai in November
The European Tour has many great sponsors including BMW, Volvo, Jonnie Walker and Alfred Dunhill. All of these names add value to the importance of these great tournaments.
The Irish Open is one of the middle ranking tournaments in the European Tour with a prize fund in the region of 2.5 million and some very important ranking points also up for grabs. Betting on the European Tour is available at most online bookmakers.
