Irish Open Golf 2012 - Darren Clarke
Darren Clarke at one time in his career looked like making it right the way to the very top. His victory over Tiger Woods in the 2003 WGC-NEC Invitational could have launched him into one of the best ever Irish Golfers but things have not quite panned out for him in the years since. He has been one of Europe's leading lights in the Ryder Cup having played in the last five with his highlight coming in the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K Club where he did not lose a match in heroic circumstances. This was also just after the tragic loss of his wife and he was very much the focal point of the event in Dublin.
He has of course bounced back to form in 2011 with that brilliant win in the Open Championship recently at Royal St Georges, it was an emotional win for Clarke and he now has reached the top of his career with his first Major win.
Darren has been in sparkling form in 2011 with the highlight of course coming at the Open Championship where he won his very first Major at the age of 42. He heads to the Irish Open Golf as the man of the moment and will be a major draw in front of the Irish crowds, he will be the subject of massive support at Killarney and along with Rory McIlroy he will be the star attraction.
