Irish Open Golf 2010 - Darren Clarke
Darren Clarke at one time in his career looked like making it right the way to the very top. His victory over Tiger Woods in the 2003 WGC-NEC Invitational could have launched him into one of the best ever Irish Golfers but things have not quite panned out for him in the years since. He has been one of Europe's leading lights in the Ryder Cup having played in the last five with his highlight coming in the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K Club where he did not lose a match in heroic circumstances. This was also just after the tragic loss of his wife and he was very much the focal point of the event in Dublin.
Latest Darren Clarke Irish Open Golf 2010 Odds
In recent times his form has seen him struggle in many of the European Tour events but did manage a win on the Asia circuit in April 2008 and he had some very respectable performances after that. He has been fighting to regain his best form which at its heights is amongst some of the very best in the world, on his best he is a match for anyone which means he should never be ignored by any golf punters.
2010 Form
Darren has not been playing at his best so far in 2010 but he has had some decent results in recent weeks as he goes in search of his A game, he is well respected by the other players and if he arrives at the Irish Open Golf he will be in for some big support from the Galleries. He had one of his best weeks form some time recently at the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond where he played a blinder to finish second. That performance was enough to earn him a place at the open Championship and a few more weeks like that will start to see his ranking rise back to the level where he belongs.
In the Open Clarke was solid through the four rounds and appears to be gaining in confidence, he is still trying to play his way into the Ryder Cup so a good placing at Killarney is absolutely essential. He has already been named as a vice-captain for the Ryder Cup but does still have the opportunity to qualify as a player if his form picks up over the next month.
